SAUDI ARABIA – IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened Crowne Plaza Al Jubail, adding 190 guest rooms and suites to Saudi Arabia’s growing premium hospitality inventory as new industry research reveals fundamental shifts in how travellers approach business trips.
Located at the intersection of Road 6 and Al Dera Street in Jalmuda, the property serves Al Jubail’s major industrial and commercial sectors while providing access to Al Nakheel Beach, Fanateer Corniche and Deffi Park.
This positioning responds directly to what Crowne Plaza’s latest white paper identifies as “blended travel,” where professionals increasingly integrate leisure elements into work journeys.
The hotel separates spaces for work, relaxation and sleep through room layouts supporting productivity while allowing rest.
Seven meeting rooms accommodate corporate events, while dining options including Al Basatin Restaurant, Le Monde Café and La Palma Restaurant serve different guest needs throughout the day. An outdoor pool and fitness center support wellbeing during extended stays.
Crowne Plaza has focused on business travelers since launching the first business-class hotel in 1983.
Today, the brand operates through three concepts: Crafted Connections, Purposeful Gatherings and Blended Travel. At Al Jubail, these principles shape every operation.
Crucially, research shows travelers in Saudi Arabia are increasingly open to combining business responsibilities with personal time during the same journey. For hoteliers, this means properties must function simultaneously as workspace, wellness retreat and social hub.
The company operates seven brands across the Kingdom including Six Senses, InterContinental, Kimpton, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites and voco. The 47-property pipeline over three to five years represents one of the region’s most aggressive expansion commitments.
General Manager Waleed Khalifa noted: “Crowne Plaza Al Jubail is designed to make travel feel easier and more balanced. From its central location to its flexible spaces and amenities, the hotel offers a comfortable base for guests visiting the Eastern Province for work, leisure, or both.“
As blended travel reshapes hospitality economics, Crowne Plaza Al Jubail demonstrates how purpose-built design, flexible amenities and deep understanding of traveller psychology create properties that perform across multiple demand segments.
