Benin brings Vodun culture, five-star partners to ITB Berlin as it seeks global travel spotlight

For a destination like Benin, rich in culture, history, and natural beauty but still building international recognition, the platform offers something priceless: access.

BENIN – Benin Tourism has packed its bags for ITB Berlin, arriving with a clear mission to boost international visibility and forge partnerships at the world’s biggest travel trade show.

The West African nation will participate from 3–5 March 2026, building on recent appearances at IFTM Paris and FITUR Madrid to accelerate what it calls the “commercialisation of Destination Benin” across priority markets.

With nearly 100,000 trade visitors expected at ITB’s 60th edition, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

A Pavilion Packed with Power Players

Benin isn’t showing up alone. The country’s structured pavilion will feature heavy hitters Benin Tours S.A., Ouidah Golf Club, and Sofitel Cotonou Marina Hotel & Spa, proof that the destination means business.

These aren’t just names on a brochure; they’re operational partners ready to turn interest into bookings. Sindé Chekete, Benin Tourism CEO, knows that visibility without distribution is just noise.

This pavilion is designed to create signal amid the chatter of 5,800 exhibitors from more than 170 countries.

Taste, Sound, and Spirit: Benin Comes Alive

Here’s where it gets exciting.

Beyond the B2B meetings and media engagements, Benin is bringing something you can’t download: an immersive tasting area showcasing the country’s flavors, alongside a cultural programme featuring Pépit’Arts and the Akonhoun Delidji ensemble.

ITB attendees won’t just hear about Benin, they’ll taste it, feel it, and carry its rhythm home with them. In an industry where experiences sell, that’s a winning formula that no brochure can replicate.

Why ITB Berlin Matters Now

This year marks ITB’s 60th edition, with more than 5,800 exhibitors and delegates from over 170 countries descending on Berlin.

For a destination like Benin, rich in culture, history, and natural beauty but still building international recognition, the platform offers something priceless: access.

Access to tour operators, to media, to the people who package and sell travel dreams. Chekete and her team aren’t just attending; they’re working every room with purpose.

The Bigger Picture

Benin’s tourism strategy has been quietly building momentum.

With its UNESCO-listed palaces, vibrant Vodun culture, and improving hospitality infrastructure, the country has everything travelers increasingly seek: authenticity, warmth, and stories that can’t be found anywhere else.

ITB Berlin represents a chance to tell those stories to the people who can spread them furthest. For a destination on the rise, that’s exactly where you want to be.
