Sharjah’s US$81.7M investment in ‘Sharjah Collection’ to elevate eco-luxury, wellness tourism

These exclusive projects include 154 premium accommodation units nestled within some of the emirate’s most picturesque landscapes.

UAE – Sharjah has made a bold investment of over AED 300 million (US$81.7 million) in recent years to develop the ‘Sharjah Collection,’ a portfolio of seven luxury eco-retreats that blend nature, heritage, and sustainability.

Spearheaded by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), these exclusive destinations feature 154 high-end accommodation units set within some of the emirate’s most stunning landscapes.

These landscapes range from tranquil coastal mangroves and vast desert dunes to serene mountain valleys and historic heritage villages.

This strategic investment is perfectly timed to harness the surging global demand for wellness tourism.

Reports from the Global Wellness Institute indicate that wellness tourism is expected to exceed US$ 1 trillion in 2025, reflecting travelers’ increasing focus on health, mindfulness, and authentic experiences.

Simultaneously, the slow travel movement, growing approximately 10% annually, is reshaping how travelers connect with destinations, emphasizing quality time, tranquility, and cultural immersion.

Condé Nast Traveller has identified slow travel as one of the defining trends of 2025, reinforcing Sharjah’s timely positioning in this market.

Sharjah is rapidly establishing itself as a regional leader in conscious and experience-driven tourism.

Data from the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) shows impressive growth, with an 11% year-on-year increase in guest numbers throughout 2024.

International occupancy rates continued to rise in the first quarter of 2025, underlining the emirate’s expanding appeal to wellness-focused and culturally curious travelers.

The ‘Sharjah Collection’ destinations offer guests restorative experiences rooted in the emirate’s rich natural and cultural heritage while embracing sustainable practices.

Initiatives range from eco-friendly architecture and conservation efforts to authentic cultural programming that deepens visitors’ connection to place.

By aligning with global wellness and slow travel trends, Sharjah is carving a distinctive niche in the competitive tourism landscape.

This forward-thinking approach positions the emirate as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking balance, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement with their surroundings.

Shurooq’s continued commitment to expanding the ‘Sharjah Collection’ symbolizes a strong vision for future growth, ensuring Sharjah remains at the forefront of luxury eco-tourism in the region while delivering lasting social, environmental, and economic benefits.
