ZIMBABWE – Accor, a global leader in hospitality, has announced a landmark agreement to develop Novotel Victoria Falls, marking its strategic entry into Zimbabwe’s tourism sector.
The signing took place during the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Africa, underscoring Accor’s commitment to expanding into emerging markets and capitalizing on one of Africa’s most iconic destinations, Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
Scheduled to open in 2028, Novotel Victoria Falls will be a new-build property featuring 111 rooms.
The hotel will be developed under a management agreement with Eagle Real Estate Investment Trust (Eagle REIT), a development-focused REIT specializing in high-quality assets across tourism, hospitality, health, retail, and residential sectors.
Situated in the Eagle Heights precinct, the hotel will overlook the Masuwe River, blending natural beauty with Novotel’s modern, family-friendly hospitality concept.
The property will offer guests a thoughtfully curated experience, including an outdoor swimming pool, a kids’ club, an all-day dining restaurant, and a destination bar.
These facilities are designed to meet the evolving needs of contemporary travelers who seek comfort, connection, and authentic local discovery.
The hotel’s location within Victoria Falls positions it perfectly to serve tourists drawn by the region’s breathtaking landscapes and adventurous activities such as white-water rafting, bungee jumping, and scenic helicopter flights.
This market entry represents a first-mover advantage for Accor in Zimbabwe, reflecting the Group’s broader strategy to pioneer developments in high-potential emerging markets across Africa.
The partnership with Eagle REIT further strengthens Accor’s footprint on the continent, building on its extensive portfolio and expertise.
Victoria Falls, locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya or “The Smoke That Thunders,” is a globally renowned destination attracting visitors from around the world.
Accor’s investment is expected to boost the local tourism economy by introducing international standards of hospitality and creating new employment opportunities.
By bringing the Novotel brand to this celebrated natural wonder, Accor aims to provide guests with unparalleled access to one of Africa’s most treasured sites while delivering sustainable tourism growth.
This development aligns with Zimbabwe’s vision to enhance its hospitality infrastructure and position itself as a premier destination for international travelers.
