
KENYA – Marriott International, Inc. unveiled plans to open two luxury tented safari camps in Kenya, following agreements with Lazizi Mara Limited for The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp and with Lazizi Solio Limited for the JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp, both part of the Lazizi Group of Companies.
The Two groundbreaking projects in Kenya are poised to redefine the luxury safari experience while advancing conservation efforts and benefiting local communities.
In partnership with Marriott International, these ventures signal a fresh era in high-end safari tourism that celebrates the region’s natural splendor and cultural legacy.
The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp
Scheduled to debut in August 2025, The Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp will introduce the brand’s hallmark elegance and world-class service to Sub-Saharan Africa.
Situated within the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, famed for its prolific wildlife and the annual spectacle of the Great Migration, the camp promises an immersive safari encounter.
Perched high among the trees on a secluded island near the Sand River by the Tanzanian border, the retreat offers uninterrupted views of riverbanks and verdant forest.
The property will feature 20 meticulously designed tented suites, including a four-bedroom presidential suite with its own living area, private sunken lounge, infinity plunge pool, and a blend of indoor and outdoor shower facilities.
Guests can look forward to gourmet dining at multiple venues, a stargazing deck under the vast African sky, and an authentic communal boma, as well as leisure amenities such as a wellness spa, outdoor gym, and dedicated activity hub that together create a bespoke safari escape.
JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp
Set to open in early 2026, the JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp offers a tranquil haven amid the wild beauty of the Solio Game Reserve and the adjacent Solio Ranch Conservancy.
Celebrated for its innovative rhino breeding program, the conservancy is home to both white and endangered black rhinos, alongside leopards, cheetahs, and an array of indigenous wildlife.
The camp will comprise 20 upscale tented units, with select two-bedroom suites featuring private plunge pools.
Its design emphasizes serene wellness with dedicated meditation spaces, while guests can enjoy four distinct culinary venues, from a classic restaurant to an elevated sky deck dining area.
Additional amenities include a signature spa by JW, a swimming pool, fitness center, and interactive facilities such as a conservation center and animal viewing hide.
The camp also offers a variety of experiences, including guided horse-riding safaris, nocturnal game drives, nature walks, quad biking adventures, and visits to a private rhino orphanage, ensuring an all-encompassing encounter with nature.
